Jarrod Lee

Jarrod Lee, bass-baritone and librettist, hails from Alabama and presently resides in Maryland. Jarrod has performed with Annapolis Opera, Atlanta Opera, IN Series, Lyric Opera of Chicago, Maryland Opera, Metropolitan Opera, Opera Baltimore, Opera Delaware and Washington National Opera. Past roles have included: Angelotti, Sacristan, and Jailer in Tosca, Le Bailli in Werther, Marchese in La traviata, and Henry Davis in Street Scene. As a lover of new works, Jarrod has covered roles like the Pastor and Kaboom in Fire Shut Up In My Bones, Mano in Champion, and has debuted the roles of Joe Louis in Shadowboxer and Levi in Cloud Nebula. In concert with opera singing, Jarrod is a librettist. His commissions have included the Alliance for New Music Theater, Atlanta Opera, IN Series, Finger Lakes Opera, Opera Parallèle, Opera Theatre of St. Louis and the Washington National Opera. A few of Jarrod’s collaborations include: Oshun and Two Corners with B. E. Boykin, Voices of Zion with Ronald Walton; Kandake, Spirit Moves, and What is Love? An AI Story with Timothy Amukele, and an English translation of Die Zauberflӧte called Black Flute with playwright Sybil Roberts.
